COMME des GARÇONS 1989ss Movement Layered Silk Wrap Skirt
From Comme des Garçons' Spring/Summer 1989 "Movement" collection, this black silk skirt reflects Rei Kawakubo's exploration of movement, layering, and unconventional garment construction.
An additional panel of fabric extends from the front of the skirt, with long ties that allow it to be wrapped and secured in different positions. Depending on how it is arranged, the fabric creates soft, irregular layers reminiscent of an overskirt, giving the silhouette a sense of volume and movement.
Made from exceptionally soft, lightweight silk with subtle horizontal woven stripes, the skirt has a delicate translucency and fluid drape. Its adjustable construction allows for different interpretations, making it a beautiful piece for experimenting with layers and proportions.
